ABB Group has announced the launch of its latest compact secondary substation solution UniPack-G, as well as a new retrofit solution for relays, demonstrating its commitment to delivering greater value to its customers.

The outer casing of this series is made of a glass fiber reinforced polyester material, which has the same strength and durability as concrete, and has the advantages of light weight and high weather resistance like steel. Its weight and durability advantages make it easier to transport and use in remote areas and extreme environments. The new compact secondary substation will have a rated capacity of up to 3,500 kVA and a rated voltage of up to 40.5 kV.

This eco-friendly product is modular in design and incorporates smart grid functionality. It has achieved internal arc classification for operators and the public to ensure the highest level of safety and has been type tested to meet the GB17467/IEC62271-202 standard. The product achieves efficient cooling by natural ventilation and is designed for high corrosion resistance, cold resistance, heat resistance and fire protection.

ABB has also introduced a new relay retrofit solution for simpler product lifecycle management, with a focus on efficiently replacing some of the specified SPACOM protection relays with the new Relionæ‚–615 series of protection and control relays.

SPACOM relays have more than 700,000 installations worldwide. It will take nearly a month to complete the retrofit, and replacing existing relays and old relays requires considerable level of knowledge and engineering experience. With this new solution, ABB simplifies and speeds up the process, reducing the time required to just one hour to a fraction of the traditional approach. This solution will allow customers to more rationally arrange and execute retrofit projects at all stages and help minimize downtime.
