According to overseas media reports, US fertilizer manufacturer CF Holdings recently signed a cooperation agreement with Shell Petroleum Corporation (Shell). CF will use Shell's sulfur processing technology for the development of ammonium sulfate products (MAPS). Production is expected to launch in the US market in mid-2011.
The treatment technology is to add sulfur into the monoammonium phosphate fertilizer granules, so that the crop can be absorbed most efficiently by controlling the ratio of nutrients and release time. The nutrient content of this fertilizer is expected to be 10% nitrogen, 40% phosphorus, and 12% sulfur.
According to CF stakeholders, the product has the advantage of low impurity content, good mixing and application characteristics, fertilizer developers can control the content and release rate of each nutrient, so as to be better absorbed by crops, improve fertilizer utilization. . According to the person in charge of CF, the product was previously imported from Poland, China and Russia. The imported fertilizer is not suitable for local crops.
It is also understood that CF has defined the market's demand for the product and is currently debugging production equipment. At the same time, the unique and advanced features of the product also provide a good opportunity for the CF company. At the same time, the development of the new product does not require too much money.
It is understood that CF will produce the product at its factory in Florida.
