Nigeria's Notore Company stated in a statement that the company has signed a cooperation agreement with Japan's Mitsubishi Corporation to jointly build a new ammonia and urea production line at its Onne plant in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and to jointly produce other petrochemical products. The daily production capacity of synthetic ammonia and urea were 1,700 tons and 3,000 tons respectively.

In addition, Notore Corporation and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries also signed an engineering design agreement for the project. It is expected that the new plant will be put into production in 2016. The preliminary design will be completed in the first quarter of 2013 and the project, procurement and construction will take 36 months. .

It is reported that Notore Company acquired Onne Plant from Nigeria National Fertilizer Company in August 2005 and began production of large-particle urea and synthetic ammonia in April 2010. Currently, the production capacity of synthetic ammonia and urea is 300,000 tons/year and 500,000 tons/year respectively. Notore Company stated that it will carry out technological transformation on the basis of existing installations. In the fourth quarter of 2013, the production capacity of synthetic ammonia and urea will reach 430,000 tons/year and 750,000 tons/year, respectively.

The company also stated that after the new project is fully put into production in 2016, the company is expected to supply 1.75 million tons of urea and 1 million tons of NPK fertilizer annually to the market and create 1,000 jobs directly. At present, the company's NPK fertilizer production capacity is 500,000 tons/year.
